About This Recruitment

Indian Overseas Bank has notified recruitment for 250 posts under HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27. Applications are accepted online from 08 Aug 2026 to 24 Aug 2026. The prescribed qualification is A degree in any discipline from a recognised university, and the age limit is 20 to 30 years before category relaxation is applied. The vacancies are spread across 4 distinct posts, and the category-wise split for each is set out in the vacancy table below.
Selection is made through Online examination, Language proficiency test and Personal interview, followed by the remaining stages set out below. Selected candidates are placed in the pay scale of ₹48,480 – ₹85,920 in JMGS-I, plus dearness, house rent and city compensatory allowances. The place of posting is Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The application fee is ₹850 including GST for General, EWS and OBC. The entire process is completed online, from registration through to fee payment and the final printout of the confirmation page. Check the notification for whether a correction window is offered, because most fields cannot be amended once the form is submitted.
Read the official notification in full before you begin the form. Eligibility, fees and dates are revised through corrigenda more often than candidates expect, and an application submitted against the wrong criteria is rejected at document verification rather than at submission — by which point the cycle is over.

| Post Name | Total |

| Local Bank Officer — Maharashtra | 50 |
| Local Bank Officer — Gujarat | 50 |

Educational Qualification
The qualification must be held on or before the cut-off date stated in the notification. Final-year candidates should check whether provisional applications are permitted for this recruitment.
| Post | Required Qualification |
|---|---|
| Local Bank Officer (JMGS-I) | A degree in any discipline from a recognised university, together with proficiency in the local language of the State applied for. |
- Tamil Nadu carries 100 of the 250 posts; Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat have 50 each.
- Local language proficiency is tested for the State you apply to, and is a condition of appointment.
- Unlike the PNB Local Bank Officer recruitment, this one asks only for a degree — no prior banking experience is required.
Age Limit & Relaxation
Upper age limits are relaxed by category. Read the row that applies to you before you conclude you are ineligible.
| Category | Upper Age Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC (non-creamy layer) | 3 years |
| Persons with Benchmark Disabilities | 10 years |
| Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers with at least 5 years' service | 5 years |
| Persons affected by the 1984 riots | 5 years |
Age is reckoned as on 1 August 2026.
Pay Scale
Figures are the pay scale, not take-home pay. Dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances are paid over and above the basic pay shown.
| Post | Pay Scale |
|---|---|
| Local Bank Officer (JMGS-I) | ₹48,480 – 2,000/7 – 62,480 – 2,340/2 – 67,160 – 2,680/7 – 85,920 |
Selection Process
Each stage is qualifying for the next. Clearing a stage does not carry marks forward unless the notification says so.
- 1Online examination — 200 marks across four sectionally timed sections
- 2Language proficiency test — where the State applied for requires it
- 3Personal interview — 100 marks
- 4Final merit — computed on an 80:20 weighting between the online examination and the interview
Exam Pattern
Understanding the marking scheme is worth as much as the syllabus — attempt strategy depends on the negative marking below.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning and Computer Aptitude | 30 | 60 | 60 minutes |
| Data Analysis and Interpretation | 30 | 60 | 60 minutes |
| General, Economy and Banking Awareness | 40 | 40 | 30 minutes |
| English Knowledge | 40 | 40 | 30 minutes |
| Total | 140 | 200 | 180 minutes |
The written paper carries **200 marks against the interview's 100**, and the final merit is weighted **80:20** between them — the exam, not the interview, decides this recruitment.
