About This Recruitment

Karnataka Examinations Authority has notified recruitment for 750 posts under ID/KEA1/18/NV/2026 (RPC) and ID/KEA1/19/NV/2026 (KK), both dated 11 July 2026. Applications are accepted online from 11 Jul 2026 to 20 Aug 2026. The prescribed qualification is A degree or diploma in Engineering, or a B.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, IT, Electronics or Agriculture, and the age limit is 18 to 40 years before category relaxation is applied. The vacancies are spread across 2 distinct posts, and the category-wise split for each is set out in the vacancy table below.
Selection is made through Competitive written examination, Kannada language test and Document verification, followed by the remaining stages set out below. Selected candidates are placed in the pay scale of ₹37,500 – ₹76,100, Group C under the 2024 revised state pay scale. The place of posting is Karnataka, including the Kalyana-Karnataka region. The examination is currently scheduled for 03 Oct 2026, which leaves a defined window to work back from when planning preparation.
The application fee is ₹750 for General and Categories 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B. The entire process is completed online, from registration through to fee payment and the final printout of the confirmation page. Check the notification for whether a correction window is offered, because most fields cannot be amended once the form is submitted.
Read the official notification in full before you begin the form. Eligibility, fees and dates are revised through corrigenda more often than candidates expect, and an application submitted against the wrong criteria is rejected at document verification rather than at submission — by which point the cycle is over.

Vacancy Details
Vacancy counts are provisional and are revised through corrigenda. The category-wise split determines the cut-off you will actually be measured against.
| Post Name | Total |
|---|---|
| Surveyor — regular cadre | 560 |
| Surveyor — Kalyana-Karnataka local cadre | 190 |
| Total | 750 |
Educational Qualification
The qualification must be held on or before the cut-off date stated in the notification. Final-year candidates should check whether provisional applications are permitted for this recruitment.
| Post | Required Qualification |
|---|---|
| Surveyor | A degree in Civil Engineering or any branch of Engineering or Technology, or AMIE; or a B.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics and Communication or Agriculture; or an AICTE-approved diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology. The qualification must be complete — candidates still studying are not eligible. |
- Two cadres are advertised together — the regular cadre with 560 posts and the Kalyana-Karnataka local cadre with 190, under separate notification numbers.
- The Kannada language test is qualifying only. You need 50 of 150, and the score does not affect your rank.
- No correction is allowed after submission, and the examination centre cannot be changed once allotted.
Age Limit & Relaxation

Pay Scale
Figures are the pay scale, not take-home pay. Dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances are paid over and above the basic pay shown.
| Post | Pay Scale |
|---|---|
| Surveyor (Group C) | ₹37,500 – ₹76,100 |
Selection Process
Each stage is qualifying for the next. Clearing a stage does not carry marks forward unless the notification says so.
- 1Competitive written examination — offline OMR papers I and II
- 2Kannada language test — qualifying only, 150 marks with a minimum of 50, not counted towards merit
- 3Document verification — against merit and category reservation
- 4Probation and departmental training — two years on probation, with the Kadaya Tharabeti survey training examination to be passed within six months
Exam Pattern
Understanding the marking scheme is worth as much as the syllabus — attempt strategy depends on the negative marking below.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I — General Knowledge | 100 | 100 | 2 hours |
| Paper II — Surveyor subject paper | 100 | 100 | 2 hours |
Both papers are offline OMR papers with four-option questions and **0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer**. The minimum qualifying mark is 35% for General candidates, with category-wise cut-offs applying under the rules.
Syllabus Overview
- Paper II is weighted as Mathematics 40% — arithmetic, algebra and geometry
- Modern surveying methods 20% — photogrammetry, satellite and drone imagery, GPS, GIS, DGPS, GNSS, RTK and the State CORS network
- Computer applications 20% — MS Office, AutoCAD including DXF operations, GIS software and the basics of web and mobile development
- Physics 10% — magnetism, electricity, electronics, dynamics, heat, light and sound
- Geography 10% — the earth, the lithosphere, maps and the physical features of India
